About The Winter Gardens Film Room

Director of Blackpool Film Festival Catherine Mugonyi has used influences from one of the most famous buildings in Blackpool – the Winter Gardens Opera House, which operates as both a 3,000 seat theatre and a cinema. Using design elements and colours drawn from the venue’s archive, Mugonyi has created a carefully considered design that is in keeping with both the luxurious Art Deco interior of the Opera House and a relaxing, modern hotel room. The room combines high-quality digital projection equipment with nostalgic, vintage films and a carefully curated film/video library (many with Blackpool locations or influences) for you to choose from. Mugonyi has created her own film guide and notes to the collection.
